![]() Well, enough "memory lane" from us - on to what you came for: the specifics of the launch! We have always felt Terraria was best with a buddy (or ten) - so if you haven't yet, now is an opportune time to try out multiplayer! (Do note that dedicated servers will still need to use the standalone server software, which you can download HERE). Gone are the days of port-forwarding and endless IP sharing for anyone seeking to connect quickly with their friends for an ore-hunting session or to team of up that tough boss fight. Perhaps most exciting to the team are the ways in which Terraria 1.3 streamlines the multiplayer experience. We are confident that you will enjoy what it has to offer! Terraria 1.3 touches on many aspects of the game - from re-imagined sprites and backgrounds to new features and - of course - the new content that you crave - that we truly feel it refreshes and revitalizes the entire Terraria experience. It has been a long road - one full of sleepless nights and tiring days, laughter and tears, successes and setbacks - but the time has finally come for us to turn our labor of love for the past year or so over to you, our loyal fans. (PS: Personally, I'm for all my games being DRM free.Happy Terraria 1.3 Launch Day everyone!!! I'm not 100% on the details on why XBCM needs GameLauncher to work, but hopefully the mod author can either work around that requirement or doesn't need the older patch feature of GameLauncher assuming Eikester does provide a working version for the GOG copy. That would to me be great & at-least some progress. I'm not to concerned with having a mod manger but it's nice to have, and if Eikester can provide either a separate version (missing the older patch ability if it needs to be done) for GOG copies or deactivate that feature when GOG copies are being used. I've used mods for a long time on many games (Skyrim, Total War, Fallout ect), and this has to be one of the first times I've come across modders actively blocking working mods because of piracy especially in regards to a GOG version just because it's DRM free. This not doing it because of piracy or being able to check for a legit version when the game is now DRM free is not the way to do it in my opinion since that would be shutting the door on thousands of new Terraria owners (currently #1 on GOG since release). mods not working with newer releases and not be updated for newer patches is part of modding. So Old versions are out the window, and that means old version mods are as well, so no tAPI or tConfig mods.Īh thank you for this info, the patch thing I can understand. It may be possible to allow this to work with the gog version but such things would count as allowing piracy to take place, even if it's on old versions. Well the biggest problem is that the downgrade patches depend on steam to function as well, as the original versions were released only on steam. (Personally, I'm in favor of having a DRM free Terraria version. That's just what comes with a DRM free release. If it allows pirates to use mods, oh well. Without the DRM, the only use of GameLauncher then to have a frontend for launching terraria mods, which you really wouldn't need since there isn't any drm. As of now, no modern terraria mods remove the DRM so as to prevent their mods being used to assist piracy, game launcher allows you to run as many DRM protected Terraria Executables as you want as long as you launch it through steam. ![]() So Old versions are out the window, and that means old version mods are as well, so no tAPI or tConfig mods.įor modern mods (like XBCM, N Terraria, or Gameiki) It should be up to individual mod authors to provide an xdelta patch or something that let's you patch your DRM free GOG executable with whatever mod. ![]() Click to expand.Well the biggest problem is that the downgrade patches depend on steam to function as well, as the original versions were released only on steam. ![]()
